Why Engineering?  

The Institute – Faculty of Engineering – as a part of integrated academic campus is established by Marwadi Education Foundation’s Group of Institutions, Rajkot, for imparting engineering education and for promoting technological research to generate suitable technical manpower.

The 4-year Bachelor of Engineering (BE) program follows Semester System spread over 8 semesters and the Syllabus and teaching scheme of Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad.

Engineering as a Career
Engineers research and develop solutions to technical problems by applying the theories and principles of science and mathematics. The branches of engineering include:

Educational Requirements for Engineers
To get an entry-level engineering job, one usually needs a bachelor's degree in engineering. Sometimes a bachelor's degree in physical science or mathematics may suffice, especially in high-demand specialties. Generally engineering students specialize in a particular branch of engineering but may eventually work in a related branch.  

Other Requirements for Engineers
Engineers who offer their services directly to the public must be licensed. These licensed engineers are called Professional Engineers (PE). To become licensed one must have a degree from a program that is accredited by the Competent Authority of Central or State Govt., four years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of a state examination. Requirements vary by state.  

How Do Engineers Advance?
As entry level engineers gain experience and knowledge, they may work more independently, Making decisions, developing designs, and solving problems. With further experience, engineers may become technical specialists or supervisors over a staff or team of engineers or technicians. Eventually, they may become engineering managers, or may move into other managerial or sales
Jobs.  

Job Outlook for Engineers
In general, engineering employment is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2016, although outlook will vary by branch.
As per the predictions by the industry, biomedical, industrial and civil engineering will experience faster than average growth. Environmental engineering should grow much faster than average.  Agricultural, aerospace, chemical, health and safety (except mining safety), marine, mining and geological and nuclear engineers should see as fast as average growth.  Other branches will see either slower than average growth or a decline.

What Do Engineers Do?
Engineers who work in design and development:

  • Design, plan, and supervise the construction of buildings, highways, and transit systems;
  • Develop and implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials;
  • Develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology;
  • Analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on people using them;

Engineers who work in testing, production, or maintenance:

  • Supervise production in factories;
  • Determine the causes of breakdowns;
  • Test manufactured products to maintain quality;
  • Estimate the time and cost to complete projects

In order to facilitate the placement process, the Placement Cell of Faculty of Management, MEFGI,   conducts a comprehensive recruitment program.
It offers advice, assistance and counseling to the students and provides them with necessary resources and skills to achieve 100% placement and internship 9p well before the end of placement period. It acts as a critical interface between the students and industry. The students along with faculty members regularly call on recruiters, make presentations and invite them to visit the campus.
The recruitment process for final placements at Faculty of Management, MEFGI, is scheduled from September/October every year. Leading companies from diverse sectors will be invited to recruit students from our institute. Recruitment will start with Pre-Placement Talk followed by the selection process at the Campus. The process for selecting junior batch students for summer projects commences in December/January every year. 
The Placement Cell has a wide network of companies and is guided by the top management in all its activities.  It is already in touch with more than 1000 companies across the country.
An impressive array of organizations from the public and private sectors will be invited to the campus visits to interview and select students permanent positions as well as summer internships. The office strives to maintain a continued relationship with employers while forging alliances with potential recruiters for participating in the campus recruitment process.
During the year 2010, the Placement Cell could facilitate the Summer Internship for the 1st Batch of students in Companies inclusive of :  State Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Angel Broking, KGMS Stock Broking, One Advertising & Marketing, Shivaami Corporation, Mumbai, Reliance Communications, MSFL, Chandarana Intermediaries Brokers Pvt. Ltd., Rajkot, Micro Inks Ltd., Kandla Port Trust Ltd., IFFCO, Kandla in a span of just a week.

The First Batch of 52 MBA holders were just out.  Of them 14 opted for self-employment and joined their family business firms.  The batch comprised of students with specialization in Finance, Marketing and Retailing.  All of them have been placed in a package ranging from Rs.4.75 L per annum to Rs.1.50 L per annum at different locations in the State as also out of the state.

  The Placement Cell has generated more than 700 job offers for the batch of 52 students.   Some of the Companies who offered jobs are :

It is heartening to inform that a batch comprising of 11 students from 2010-12 MBA program have visited Alberto University, Canada (arranged through GTU, Ahmedabad) for their Summer Internship project during June-July 2011 and came out with flying colors. Of the 30 students the Batch from our Institute have topped in all the areas of Summer Projects with a score of more than 88% out of 100.

The 2nd batch of MBA program i.e., 2010-12 Batch comprising 114 students and the 1st Batch of PGDM (Autonomous Program) comprising of 31 students are getting ready to enter the Corporate World sometime next year i.e., 2012.

The Placement Cell has already commenced its activities and is actively in touch with the Corporate world. It is expected that more than 100 corporate organizations will visit the campus this year for the Summer Internships and Final Placements.

We, at Faculty of Management, MEFGI, request you to:

  1. Fill up the enclosed response sheet and fax/mail it back to us to help us to organize the Pre-Placement/Final Placement schedule well in time.
  2. Intimate us a week in advance the details of your Pre-Placement Talk, Interview/Written Test Programs.
  3. Send us in advance the details of your recruitment requirement and Company snapshot/profile
  4. Promptly instruct us about sending CVs electronically to facilitate interaction planning
  5. Inform us in advance the selection criteria and recruitment policy of your organization to enable us to shortlist suitable aspirants for you.
  6. Route offer letters to the selected students through the Placement Cell, Marwadi Education Foundation's Group of Institutions, to expedite joining and enable efficient tracking of the Placement Program.

The MCA program has several industry-oriented projects that augment the learning ability with respect to analytical skill, problem solving and decision making ability. At MEFGI we try to inculcate the skill that the students will require to face the challenges when they will be in real life industrial scenario.
