1. After submission of application, am I permitted to change my GATE Examination Paper and Examination City?
Requests for change of GATE Examination paper after the submission of Application Form will not be considered.
Requests for change of examination city will be accepted till given deadlines with some extra fee.
2. Will I be provided with any white paper for rough work and calculations during the test?
For OFFLINE Examination, the question paper itself contains some blank sheets on which you can do the rough work. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet as no additional paper will be provided during the test.
For ONLINE Examination, a notepad provided to the candidate can be used to do the rough work.
3. Am I allowed to leave the examination hall during the test?
For OFFLINE Examination, candidate will not be allowed to leave the examination hall for any reason during the test. Candidates are allowed to leave the hall only after the Optical Response Sheet (ORS) from all the candidates in the examination hall have been collected and accounted for.For ONLINE Examination, candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination lab for any reason during the test. Candidates are allowed to leave the lab only after the closure of the test at the scheduled end of examination in a session.
4. What items are not permitted to be brought with me inside the examination venue?
Electronic diary, mobile phone, and any such electronic gadgets, blank papers, clip boards and log-tables will not be allowed in the examination venue.
5. Can I use a calculator during the exam?
Yes. You are permitted to use a scientific calculator without data connectivity.If you bring any item that is not permissible inside the examination venue, you will have to keep it at the test center at your own risk.
6. Is Hostel facility available? What is the living cost for the students during the preparation?
Boys/girls hostels are available very close to our institution. Our office staff will help you in finding suitable hostel for you.
7. Whether old question papers of GATE will be discussed in the class?
Yes, atleast 10 years paper will be solved in the classroom only
8. How many times can I attempt GATE?
Number of attempts is not restricted. The best of the valid GATE score is accepted which we provide in application form. The GATE score is valid for 2 year
9. Is there age limit for taking GATE examination?
There is no age limit.
10. If a candidate appears for GATE twice which score will be considered?
The higher score you have secured of the two will be considered automatically once you fill-up the form.
11. What is waightage of GATE Score at the time of Admission in Post graduate i.e M.E. / M.Tech ?
Minimum 70% waightage is to be given to the performance in GATE. The remaining waightage (30% maximum) can be given to the candidates academic record or performance in interview. But Minimum criteria may vary from one IIT to others.
12. Eligibility in terms of percentage marks to take up the GATE examination?
The candidate should have a PASS certificate from any recognized university.
13. How is the GATE percentile calculated and what is the GATE Score card?
Scorecard will be sent only to the qualified candidates. No information will be sent to
Candidates who did not qualify.
The GATE score card is a valuable document. Care should be taken to preserve it. Additional Score Cards, (up to a maximum of two) will be issued on payment just once.
The Score Card cannot be treated as a proof of category.
The score card of the Qualified Candidates will include GATE Score, Percentile Score and Rank.
14. What is the individual weightage/ no of questions of different topics in different years of GATE?
There is no fixed pattern on the number of questions or weight a question carries. The pattern varies from year to year. Also it may depends on the organizing institute for particular year"s GATE exam. However, we have done the topic-wise pattern analysis which has been provided in the registration kit for the students" convenience. Also our expert team of IIScian / GATE toppers has identified certain portions in each subject from which the questions invariably appear in the GATE. The details will be provided to the students during the classroom coaching.
